Write a Letter to Your Friend Describing How You Spend Your Recent Summer Vacation

25 May, 2015
 Dear Sujon,

I am glad to receive your letter. In my last letter I promised that I would tell you how I had enjoyed my summer vacation in May 2016.

Actually that was quite a thrilling experience for me. I still savor the memory when I have idle time. It seems to me that just yesterday I travelled to my uncle’s home located at the foothills of Rangamati. I think that it is the most beautiful part of Bangladesh. It is such a place where the glossy water, the blue sky and the hilltops shrouded with green trees met in harmony. Its beauty infatuated me when my first day dawned there. Despite the sultry weather I enjoyed a lot. The rowing of the boat in a winding course on the hill-barricaded lake water, the excitement of catching fish, the plucking of fruits and flowers from the groves - all filled my heart with silent ecstasy. I wish I could spend my whole life there.

No more today. Wishing you all the best.

Yours ever,

Disha

Dear Sahed,
I am glad to receive your letter. In the letter you have wanted to know about the picnic that we made. I am now writing about it.

It was winter vacation. Our school was closed. I with some of my friends arranged a picnic. We selected Sonargaon for the picnic spot. It is some twenty miles off Dhaka. We got into the bus at about 9 am with all necessary utensils and materials. After reaching Sonargaon we finished our breakfast by 10.30 am. We did not take any cook with us. Our mathematics teacher, Mr. Jakir Khan has a reputation as an expert in cooking. I helped him in cooking. Some were singing, some were cutting jokes and others were playing different types of games. At about with full appetite, after lunch we went out for sightseeing. Sonargaon charmed us most. We started for home at 5pm after taking our tea. We enjoyed the picnic most.

No more today, write to me about your experience of a great day.
Your loving friend,

Shihab

My dear Nusrat,
At the beginning of the letter, take my cordial [আন্তরিকতা] love. Hope you are hale [সুস্থ] and hearty by the grace [কৃপা] of Almighty [সর্ব শক্তিমান] Allah. I am also well by His grace. Today I’m going to let you know something important and that is the importance of learning English.
As you may know that English is an international language. We cannot communicate [যোগাযোগ রক্ষা করা] with the other corner of the world without English. Now the whole world is fully dependent [নির্ভরশীল] on English. All international seminars [আলোচনা সভা] and discussions [বিষদ আলোচনা করা] are held in English. Any good job is impossible without English. Books on higher education are written in English. To be a doctor, a good teacher, a good tourist one must have a good knowledge of English. So, I am telling you to learn English to make your life successful.

No more today. More when our meeting will be held again. With best regards [শ্রদ্ধা] to your parents and love to you and all. Hoping to have a few lines from you in reply.

Yours truly,

Sumya Rahman

Accept my cordial thanks for the warm hospitality given to me by you and your family members. I will never forget how all the members of your family especially your parents received me with their deep of heart. I shall be very happy if you pay a visit to our house during your next vacation. I am waiting for your arrival.

No more today, with best regard to your parents and love to all.

Dear Amaan
I received your letter yesterday and I hope you are in the best of your health and spirits. In your last letter you wanted to know about the annual sports day of our school.

The annual sports day of our school was held on 15th January. On this occasion, our school building and surroundings were nicely decorated with flowers, color-papers and balloons. The Mayor of the city was the chief guest. He hoisted the national flag with the national anthem and declared the sports meet open by freeing the pigeon in the sky. Many students took part in various games. Main items of sports were high jump, long jump, short put, javelin throw, various races and disk throwing. Some team events were also organized like Kabaddi, football, volley ball and tug of war. The chief guest gave the prizes to the winner. Many students of our class won medals. I won one medal in shot put. It was really a day of great joy for us.

Regards to your parents.

Your loving friend

Dear Shima,

Thanks a lot for your letter. I hope you are in the best of your health and spirits. In your last letter you wanted to know about my favorite game.

You have praised cricket as the first game in the world. I don't like to dispute that, but it is not my favorite game. My two favorite games are badminton and chess. Badminton seems to me the best of all outdoor games. Football and hockey are too violent to suit me. Cricket is too slow. Tennis is childish. But badminton provides you with plenty of exercise. It develops the quickness of eye and limb and it makes your brain active. Chess is the queen of games. I don't take any interest in card games. In spite of being called a selfish game of only two persons, chess interests me more. Many people say that chess is a slow game.  But no chess player even agree to this opinion. For an outsider, it looks slow to see two men sitting silent and making a move only every few minutes. But to the two players it is all the time intensely exciting. You are probably scoffing at me by now.

No more today. Write to me soon.

Yours ever,

Sujon Ahmed

Dear Jahid,
I have just received your letter. In your letter you wanted to know what I intend to do after the final /J.S.C/S.S.C. exam. Now I am writing about my plan.

You know that from my childhood I have a great plan to do something for the betterment of my society and nation. So, I have decided that after my final /J.S.C/S.S.C. exam I will go to my native village and I will devote myself in social service. Most of the people of our village are deprived of education. So, I have planned to start an evening school for adult people and I will teach them about health, family planning and nutrition. I will also teach them how to cultivate scientifically. Some of my friends also encouraged me and assured their support. I think it will be my best opportunity to fulfill my dream and serve the common people. I need your good wishes for it.

No more today, inform me about your intension after the final /J.S.C/S.S.C. exam. Convey my best regard to your parents and love to the younger.

Your loving friend.
