A library is often compared with the storehouse of knowledge. It can help a man to satisfy his unquenchable thirst for knowledge. It is part and parcel of an educational institution. A school library is a library where the students and the teachers of a school can read and borrow books.A school can not complete without a library. Like many other institutions, we have a big library in our school. It is situated on the upstairs of the school building. It is a spacious room having a good number of almirahs containing books on literature, history, geography, science, religion etc. They include many reference books on different subjects. At present our library has as many as ten thousand books on various subjects. We are really proud that our school has a rich library. There is a well-furnished reading room attached to it. Students come here to pass their leisure hours by reading books according to their choice. A student can borrow two or three books at a time and keep them at home for a week. There are also some books that are not allowed to be taken home. These are reference books. But in the reading room he is allowed to read as many books as he need. It remains open from 9 a.m. except on holidays. There is a trained and qualified librarian who is in charge of the library. He helps the students to select good books and keep them in a perfect order. Books are issued through library cards. Every year, the library is enriched with new books on the latest subjects and topics. Really the true function of a school library is to supply the student’s useful books that widen their latent talent.
